A Day In London with Jeffrey, Spring 2005, is part of a series entitled “relics”. After developing a roll of film, the image’s contents is imparted back onto the metal canister which held the film by coating the inside surface of the flattened cartridge in photographic emulsion and exposing it to light, allowing for abstract patterns on the surface of the object to emerge. The memories contained within the images from that roll are imparted via the abstract composition’s naming in reference to the original content.

I am left with an abstract documentation of events from my life, while the viewer is challenged to interpret an otherwise-abstract composition in the terms of its original context and my memories associated with the content.
